So we officially have started the ski season.  We stayed here both 4 bedroom with hot tub and 4 bedroom with sauna over the christmas holiday and are heading back home to California tomorrow morning.

The snow has been excellent, my husband is thoroughly pleased.  In fact, we canceled a trip to the infamous Island Lake Lodge in Fernie Cananda because the snow conditions was just so much better here in Utah.  Why leave a good thing right?  So my powder hound husband made the executive ski decision to cancel flights to Kalispel and spend it in Utah instead.

We skied Alta every time except when we got the snow storm and little cottonwood canyon was closed.  That day they went over to Solitude.

While I only skiied a couple of days (husband skiied 5), I did get a lot of things done to the 4 bedroom house with hot tub and the 4 bedroom with sauna.  I'll create a seperate post and summarize the updated stuff to the houses.

So I just received an email from a potential group of guy skiers who are concerned about getting their security deposit deducted for unreasonable things.  Apparently last year in Breckenridge Colorado the landlord deducted money from the security deposit because they didn't wash their own sheets before they left.  The renters didn't know that they were supposed to wash their sheets.  They felt that they got unreasonable "burned" because they didn't know that was part of the deal.

The cleaning fee that we charge guests includes cleaning bathrooms, the kitchen, vacuming, floors, and all the linens which included bed sheets and towels.

I'm sure many of you are wondering..."Have you ever withheld security deposit?"

Yes, but maybe only 3 times over the course of several years.

We had a client who's family wanted to rent 2 houses at the same time.  They rented from me the previous year so I didn't think anything of it.  When the cleaning team arrived I think they went into shock.  Food on the floor, juice stains on the rug, stickers all over the house and bed comforters, and crayon marks on the coffee table.  The family's excuse was that they were running late to the airport.   Needless to say, we told them that there were never allowed back in our homes ever again.  That has only ever happened once thankfully.  Most people are really cool and responsible about taking care of our homes.  So having to deduct the security deposit is very very rare!

We are very reasonable ski condo owners.  Leave my house in the same nice condition in which you received and you WILL get all of your money back period.

Hope this info helps you out in your quest for a place.

    Happy Skiing!

Yes, I recommend a rental car.  If you are with a big group, best to split a car rental with other’s since.  There is a maximum of 3 cars allowed at the house.  2 Cars in the garage and one in the driveway.  Absolutely no street parking you will get towed and fined.

Ideally, you fly in to SLC around the same time as some of the other’s and get a ride.  Every year several of us end up arriving at the airport around the same time so figure out your flight and worry about the transportation later.  Alternatively you can always take a cab straight to the house which is about $40.

How far is this place from airport?

The Airport is approximately a 30 minute drive to the house under normal conditions.  If it’s a blizzard or snowing a lot, it will take longer.  It’s an easy drive, not mountainous, all freeway.

    Hello My Lovely Powder Puffs!
I received a very important question via email concerning where to go for massages.
    massage.jpg
    I have 2 suggestions.

Massage Envy is a 5 minute drive and the therapists there are really good.  Much better than they are in San Diego.  Maybe because they are used to skiers and such.  Anyways, if you are a first time customer you pay only $39 for an hour massage.  So it's close, it's cheap, and it's very good.
Here's the address and phone number:

The other option which I have yet to try is the Spa at Snowbird Resort.  That's if you guys want the ulitmate experience.  I have read reviews and it sounds fabulous and I'm definitely going to check it out when I go there this month with my girlfriend.

So it's mid August and we are already booking up the dates for December, January, and February.

We have been getting a ton of requests for our ski condos and the dates are filling up fast.  Most of the good dates may already be gone.  So if you are planning your annual ski trip like the rest of us ski bums, now is the time to move on it.

Remember that we have 3 great ski vacation rentals to choose from depending on the size of your group and your needs.

Our Most Popular ski condo right now is the 4 bedroom with Hot Tub.   The skiers and snowboarders love this house because it has all the extras.  It has the most space, the most beds, convenient bed configuration, especially for the all guys ski and snowboard trips.  Plus it has a pool table, dart board, ping-pong table, and 1 year old hot tub.  If you are planning a group trip check this place out first.  We have a ton of positive reviews if you go to our VRBO guest book.  It's just an all around awesome place.

Here is the link to the our most popular Utah ski rental:

NEW Changes to this house this year:
Also, if you rented this house last year and are coming back you will notice

    • NEW big screen TV
    • NEW lovely new micro-fibre couch
    • IMPROVED Bed Configuration upstairs.  I replaced two small twin size beds with two large queen size beds.  It's so much more comfortable for adults.
